Dr. Hauwa Lamino Abubakar

Chair, Board of Trustees

 

Dr. Hauwa is a Lecturer at Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She graduated from Bayero University Kano with a Degree in Business Administration and went on to attain an MBA at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She later obtained a PhD in Business Administration from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

 A lady of intellect, determination, and creativity. Hauwa specializes in vast areas of Management including - Corporate Governance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. She is well-travelled and has fond memories of time in Zambia, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

Dr. Hauwa has participated in numerous domestic and foreign capacity building programs. She joined the academic profession after five years of training experience at Peugeot Automobile Nigeria as a Facilitator in Management & Marketing. She is a certified trainer of Centre for Management and Development.

Isaiah Bulus 


Isaiah is a graduate of Business Administration – specializing in Management – and holds an MBA from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

After a stint in school teaching, he moved to a French multinational company – Peugeot Automobile, where he held several positions. He was part of the team that x-rayed the various affiliate companies to Peugeot across Nigeria where new structures of operations were charted for the network of companies. After leading the birth of a subsidiary – PAN Learning Centre, he moved into private business consulting.

As a business consultant, Isaiah consulted for several institutions in both private and public sectors of the economy. He participated and other times led the re-structuring effort of diverse organizations in Nigeria. After consulting for a multi-million dollar farm – Raudah Farms in Kaduna – Nigeria, he later served as the Chief Executive Officer of the farm, where he grew various aspects of the farm like the orchard, poultry, ruminants, paddocks and in deed the ultra-modern production factory for yoghurt, special drinks, and table water.

Isaiah has inspired many young Agriculturalists and intending farmers through his highly motivational presentations and mentoring sessions in various Entrepreneurship programs in Nigerian Universities. He has developed and delivered numerous capacity building packages including Leadership & Ethics, Emotional Intelligence, Corporate Governance, Change Strategies, E-Learning, Strategic Management, HR Management, Finance, Pension Fund Administration and Management, and Business Process Analysis at national and international levels including in Ghana, Zambia, South Africa, Dubai, and the United States. His participation in a research project conducted by London Business School on “Strategic Talent Management”, earned him an award from the same institution.

He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Partakers Consulting Limited; a multidisciplinary firm committed to the development of SMEs and other entrepreneurial efforts. He is a quintessential and accredited trainer, a corporate executive and scholar, an articulate and motivational speaker, and a member of various professional bodies.

Abubakar Abdullahi

Executive Director


Abubakar’s work is driven by a passion for building indigenous companies that will provide meaningful jobs for the growing youth demographic, develop local technologies and build expertise towards ensuring shared prosperity for all. He started his career in the Construction industry before discovering a love for negotiation and sales. He later polished marketing and business development skills as a Relationship Manager at First Bank.

In 2013, he founded The Front Office NG; a Marketing, Management and Outsourcing Company that is helping businesses, individuals and non-profits put their best foot forward. In 2015, he co-founded Impact River, a Sustainability and Impact Investment company that works in the areas of Social Impact and Innovation, driving meaningful actions for the betterment of African societies.

He is a certified Project Manager and carries the global PMP credential from the Project Management Institute (PMI) – for demonstrated experience, knowledge and performance in achieving organizational objectives. As Vice President of Membership for the PMI Nigeria Chapter, he works with other members of the board to advance the profession and make project management indispensable for business results.

He has a Specialization in Entrepreneurship with an emphasis on “Launching an Innovative Business” from the University of Maryland, College Park. His skill sets are further boosted by completed courses in areas as diverse as Sustainable Development, International Organizations Management, the Changing Global Economy, Public-Private Partnerships, International Trade Finance, Building State Capability and Financing for Development.

Prof. Victor Mbarika

Chair, Advisory/Governing Board

Prof. Victor holds dual citizenship of Cameroun and the United States. He is an ICT consultant and holds a B.Sc. in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the U.S. International University, M.Sc. in MIS from the University of Illinois, and Ph.D. in MIS from Auburn University, USA – completing all three programs in only five years. He is a Full Professor and Endowed Professor of ICT at Southern University, USA.

Prof. Victor is founder and President of the Board of Trustees of The ICT University System and Foundation (USA), with multiple campuses in developing countries. He is a philanthropist and has funded multiple ICT projects and scholarships worldwide. He is also founder of the International Center for Information Technology and Development.

Prof. Victor serves (or has served) as Visiting Professor at The University of Technology in Shah Alam (Malaysia), The University of Cape Town (South Africa), The University of Buea (Cameroon), Makerere University Business School (Uganda) and Covenant University (Nigeria). He serves as external examiner at several Universities around the world. He has authored over 175 academic publications in the form of books, peer reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters. Every year, he serves as Keynote Speaker at multiple conferences around the world.

Prof. Victor has at different times mentored, supervised or reviewed senior and post-doctoral scholars, doctoral and masters students in various areas of ICT. Prof. Victor is a member of several boards, associations and professional organizations. A frequent traveler, he has been to over forty countries.

He is a recipient of two Lifetime Achievement Awards –

Lifetime Achievement Award from The African Society for Information and Communication Technology for his “Contribution to ICT Research and Education”

Lifetime Achievement Award from Cameroon Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists for "Outstanding contribution to computer science and telecommunications.

Prof. Seth Akutson

Prof. Seth holds a PhD in Economics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria; where he taught for more than a decade. He is also a graduate of the University of Ibadan and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; where he served as a senior visiting scholar. He is Head of Department of Economics & Director of Entrepreneurship Centre and was Head of the Research & Training Department of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria, Lagos.

He has been involved in the Trilogy of Action Research with the DFID/British Council as a Senior Research Fellow with the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration and has worked with a number of International Non-Governmental Organizations. He facilitates with DFID/British Council–GEMS on building an Entrepreneurial hub for Nigeria in collaboration with the Growbridge Advisors, UK,

Prof. Seth has served as a visiting Professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where he works with DATAFIRST, a South African information and Data Management agency in conjunction with Paris21 of France. He is into Green Economy Development as a Board member and Advisor on Green Shift Africa in South Africa. He also coordinates the Network of Entrepreneurs across the continent, and has been involved in several speaking engagements across the globe.

Prof. Seth has been a World Bank Economic Advisor on Energy in the Federal Ministry of Power in the office of the Honourable Minister. He is also a Policy Consultant with the German Government GiZ and the Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry & Investment, as well as an Independent Monitor, Mentor, Researcher, Facilitator & Supervisor of the Federal Government of Nigeria YouWIN! Enterprise Innovation Program.

Dr. Adoo Blessing Wombo

Dr. Adoo is a graduate of Agricultural Education from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, where she went on to obtain a Masters and PhD in the same field. She is deeply passionate about educating African youth in the field of Agriculture and nurturing them into Agribusiness.

She is a classical Scholar, Researcher and Specialist in Gender Studies who has supervised students at the undergraduate, masters and doctorate levels. A team player, she has served in various positions including as Secretary, College Welfare Board; Chairperson, Departmental Handbook Review Committee; Chairperson, New Programs Committee; Departmental Coordinator, Postgraduate Studies; Representative, College of Agricultural Economics and Extension; Secretary, Electoral Committee of ASUU; and Member, Central Planning Committee of Weed Science Society of Nigeria FUAM 42ND Annual Conference.

She has also been involved in grass root civil society network with NGOs in Nigeria. She is a member of Women in Nigeria (WIN) and Women’s Right Advancement and Protection Agency (WRAPA) where micro credit scheme, healthcare, gender and human right issues are handled through training, litigations, workshops, campaigns and other forms of sensitization for public awareness and empowerment purposes.

She has authored and co-authored academic publications of local and international repute. She is a member of the Association for Rural Development, Agriculture and Science; Nigeria Technical and Vocational Education Association; and the Agricultural Educators Association.

Bert Evers

Bert is an expert in Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Change Management, Software Implementation, Process Improvement and an experienced mentor, who has been dealing with sports development since the 70’s.

His involvement in projects in Africa include as Mentor for the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Advisor for Business without Boundaries, and Advisor for the Gateway Health Institute. He actively supports projects of Don Bosco in South Africa (specifically in Cape Town) and the “Salesians Life Choices”. He also runs social projects in South Africa, like the “Matangari Youth Ambassadors” cause. Through his mentoring activities, he is working towards participating in an e-School program in Lesotho.

Bert has been actively involved in sports, with a focus on soccer. He volunteered for the Soccer World Cup 2006 in Dortmund, Germany, the European Championships in Bern, Switzerland (his native country) in 2008, the World Cup 2010 in Bloemfontein in South Africa and the Confederations Cup 2013 in Recife, Brazil. As a Delegation Liaison he worked for National Games of Special Olympics Switzerland, as well as for the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in 2015.

Bert strongly believes in the principles of Ubuntu (I am because we are). He is versatile, from ICT to Sports, to social projects and in deed a legend in Entrepreneurship, an area he has mentored innumerate young Africans.

Victor Paa Kwesi Mensah

 

Victor is a Chartered Manager, Organisation Development Practitioner, Coach, Projects and Events Manager, Development Advisor, and master trainer in several world class tools, including GETAhead, DanteFactor, and Clarity4D.

He was a Program Manager, Africa Region, for the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Youth Development Program supervising Technical Advisors in 22 countries in the Africa Region of the Commonwealth. His work focused on youth employment, youth entrepreneurship development and sustainable livelihood issues, including Business Development Services and ICT for Development initiatives as well as coordinating over 15 universities in the region delivering Commonwealth Accredited qualifications and scholarships.

Victor has qualifications in Management Studies, Education, Organisation Development, Design Thinking, International Relations, Events Management, and Business Leadership. He holds professional chartered membership of the Chartered Management Institute, UK, the Project Management Institute, Society for Human Resources Management, Coaches and Mentors of South Africa, and was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management UK.

He is Ghanaian but resides in Zambia with his family. A former diplomat for the Commonwealth Secretariat, he brings his vast experience in international consulting, facilitation methodologies, youth development and entrepreneurship to the Advisory Board.

Julius Kioko Mutundu

Julius is a graduate of Entrepreneurship and has an MBA from the famous Moi University in Nairobi, Kenya.

He began his work experience with Care International in Kenya – a women economic development project - and later worked in several organisations including Wedco Enterprise Development Limited, USAID-AMPATH Partnership, SELF-HELP AFRICA, and Kenya Aids NGOs Consortium. He is a member of various professional bodies in Kenya and was recently named Regional Director, East and Central Africa, by the Africa Agribusiness Incubators Network.

Julius is currently Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at Sorghum Value Chain Development Consortium; an Agribusiness incubator set up by DANIDA through Universities Business Research and Innovation (an initiative of Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa) and implemented in five countries – Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana and Mali. He has achieved unprecedented feats in this position, attracting funding of over $200 million from USAID, about $50 million from DANIDA and different sums from Child International Foundation Fund, Canadian Health Research Institute, and Irish Aid.

Nasir Yammama

Nasir is a creative technologist whose award-winning company, Verdant AgriTech, offers innovative solutions to farmers and other stakeholders for improved food production using novel technologies. He won the British Council and Virgin Atlantic's Enterprise Challenge in 2014 which earned him the mentorship of Sir Richard Branson.

In 2015, Nasir was listed among 50 Global Entrepreneurs by MIT based on his entrepreneurial potential, focus on excellence, contribution to community, intellectual curiosity, and collaborative spirit; making him part of a group that have launched 94 new ventures, raising a total of over $32 million. His company, Verdant, won the 2016 Award for Global Innovation in AgriFood.

In 2017, Nasir was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II as a Queen’s Young Leader, listed as one of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 entrepreneurs, and announced as an Ambassador for the Virgin Group.

He has a Master’s Degree in Creative Technology from Middlesex University and completed the Global Entrepreneurship Boot Camp at MIT. He has consulted for Adam Smith International and the German development agency, GIZ.

Lilian Uwintwali

Lilian is a computer Engineer and Business Analyst. She founded M-AHWIII Ltd while in her 3rd year at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology and by 25 had co-founded and headed two companies – the other being LBS, a business consultancy firm.

Lilian holds a degree in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, post-graduate Certificates from MIT and Cambridge University on Mobile Applications Development and Entrepreneurship, and has completed trainings in Business Development and Planning with Regent University and International Finance Corporation (IFC/World Bank Group).

She is a 40 Chances Fellow for Rwanda for year 2014, winner of the MIT-AITI competition 2011, a presidential/ Broadband/ITU people’s choice award for best app in Broadband/ITU, 2011, and winner of the Mobile Apps for Human Development challenge 2014.

In May 2016, she was voted as the Vice Chair of Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) and recognized regionally among the top 3 Young Innovators in Agribusiness across East Africa and Ethiopia by the Inter-Regional Economic Network (IREN) sponsored by the East African Trade Investment Hub/USAID and Syngenta.
